Taylor Swift doesn't have the most seamless track record at the MTV Video Music Awards, but that hasn't stopped the singer from making strong style statements on the event's red carpet.
During her fateful 2009 on-stage meeting with Kanye West (need a refresher?), T-Swift wore her signature look at the time: a floor-length, glittery confection. But last year, the star came out strong in a white power suit. So how would she switch things up for this year's big event?
By channeling a 1920s period film, apparently. Tay went the whole
nine yards on the red carpet: red lips, a bob with finger waves and a
slinky, glittery dress by Hervé Léger by Max Azria. As People.com's Andrea Lavinthal put it, "Taylor's hair is what Donna Martin would've done for a '20s costume party at the Peach Pit After Dark."
